Cap Cana Championship Pro-Am announced
Put the date in your diaries. From 22-28 March, the PGA Tour Champions Tour, the Cap Cana Championship will be held at the Punta Espada Golf Course. In its third year at Cap Cana, the championship will be bringing over a selection of some of the best golfers from all around the world to play the top rated Jack Nicklaus signature course. Keith Fergus won the Cap Cana PGA Tour Champions Tour last year. The event is regarded as one of the most important sporting events in the DR.
New flights to Punta Cana
Punta Cana gets JetBlue flights from NY and Boston
JetBlue Airways has begun flights to Punta Cana from John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Logan International Airport in Boston operating A320 aircraft. The daily nonstop
flights will be year-round to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and JFK but on Saturdays to Boston.
Punta Cana becomes JetBlue's 15th international destination and fourth destination in the DR. The airline has grown substantially in recent years and now claims to be the nation's #1
airline.
"JetBlue is happy to be adding Punta Cana to our group of Dominican destinations. We are confident this destination will be, like our other destinations on the island, a great success," said
Scott Laurence, JetBlue's vice president of network planning.
More than 150 Brazilian business leaders may taste Dominican potential
Santo Domingo.- More than 150 Brazilian business leaders and personalities will come to Dominican Republic for the 14th International Meeting “Economic development
pos crises” and “Tourism as a generator of wealth in Latin America” on Saturday, October 10, in Cap Cana’s Hotel Sanctuary.
President Leonel Fernandez will deliver the seminar’s keynote address while tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia will be the main speaker, who’ll address tourism in Latin America, stressing
Dominican Republic’s extraordinary potential for foreign investors as well as for travelers who prefer a destination with the conditions it affords visitors.
“Tourism’s role in the generation of wealth, environmental and cultural preservation in Latin America” will be the Tourism Minister’s dissertation in the seminar-debates of confraternity between
the Brazilian entrepreneurs and the Dominican pars, followed by a luncheon hosted by the Dominican Tourism Ministry.
Also invited to the event are Brazil Energy and Mines minister Edison Labao; the ministers of Tourism, Luiz Barreto, of Agriculture, Reinhold Stephanes, and of Science and Technologym Sergio
Rezende; Federal deputy and ex Hacienda minister Antonio Palocci, and Jeanine Pires, president of the Brazilian tourism company Embratur.
Brazil Federal Aeronautics Agency (ANAC) president Solange Vieira; several lawmakers; the Brazilian TV networks Rede Globo, Rede Record, SBT and Redetv; the national newspapers, Sao Paulo, La
Folha de Sao Paulo and the magazine Istoé Dinheiro have already confirmed their participation.
Leaders in the area of business, finance, banking, high tech, the media, advertising, tourism, health, services, aeronautical security, the automotive industry, construction, electricity,
electromechanical and textiles and other industries are also expected to attend.
Dominican ambassador Dionis Perez said the initiative seeks to bring together business, political and cultural leaders from both countries, to spur grand development projects. “This initiative is
part of the long term strategy focused on increasing Dominican Republic’s visibility in Brazil.”
He noted Brazil’s and Dominican Republic’s bolstered bilateral relations in the last few years, though the construction of infrastructure projects in roads, hydroelectric dams, aqueducts and in
the modernization of mass transit.
