With the tee complex located on top of bluff, the downhill par 4 is set up with a large waste bunlker that runs along the left side of the fairway and a bunker to the right of the landing area. This will require the player to carry a portion of the waste bunker and favor the left side of the fairway in order to have the best angle into the green. A small bunker front right and an elevated bunker on the back left protect the green.

The most difficult hole of the course. Tees are located on one of the highest point of Punta Espada; one can view a large lake that runs directly into the Atlantic Ocean. The longest of the par 5 measuring 611 yards this dogleg right will demand three well-placed shots to reach the green. The landing area is framed by two cross-bunkers on the right and a single bunker just past the landing area on the left. Premium is placed on the second shot with a beach bunker located around the tidal lake and a slightly crowned fairway at the second landing area.

With tees along the Atlantic Ocean, this 403-yard dogleg right par 4 plays into the wind, with a natural coral and sand hazard that must be negotiated along the right side. A drive hit down the right side of the fairway or over the right fairway bunker will set up the best angle into the green, The perched green sits along the Ocean. There is a bunker located on the left side and a small waste bunker on the front right approach.

The first par 3 plays a short 190 yards from the tips. Do not let the waves splashing behind you and into the lake in front of the green distract from your concentration. Club selection is premium since the hole will play shorter because the wind is at the players back. The green is positioned sideways and not very deep, a long shot over the green will be penalized.

A long par 4 that plays downwind will force the player to choose an angle of attack. There are two fairway bunkers located short right of the landing area and small bunker strategically placed at the landing area that causes the fairway on the right side to narrow. There is plenty of room to play safe on the left side but a player will not have an easy entrance shot into the green. A shot hit on the right side fairway will allow the player to attack the pin. A large waste bunker runs along the left side approach.

The first of three holes located on top os a 20-30 foot bluff, this dogleg left par 5 will be memorable. A large landing area allows all players to "grip it and rip it"! The fairway works around a large vertical rock sink hole. A waste bunker wraps around this feature inviting the long hitters to play down the left side of the fairway and carry the natural features or play it safe down the right side and around the natural features. A straight shot hit to the center of the green is ideal; the problem is executing the shot.

The easiest of the pars 3`s at 170 yards, a front right pin makes this shot as testy as you will encounter on par 3. With a punch-bowl nature to this green, golfers will want to the let the contours of the green work the ball from left to right to any pins along the right edge in order to avoid the large collection area that begins in the fairway and extends along the entire right side of the green.

Although the shortest par 4 at Punta Espada, wind will play a key role in club selection. The large sandy waste area that parallels the entire hole and extends into the fairway at the landing area will force the more conservative players to favor the left side of the fairway which will set up a tough approach shot over a greenside bunker. The best angle into the green is achieved by hitting a drive over the sandy waste area into the right of the fairway and possibly driving the putting surface if the wind is kind.

With all the tees located on the top edge of the bluff and virtual 360 degree view of the Punta Espada Golf Course and the Caribbean Sea, the adrenalin should be running high by now. A downhill tee shot will need to be struck well due to the wind, this dogleg left will play longer than its yardage shows. A series of three bunkers varying in size begin short of the landing area and extend midway to the green. It will be difficult to get up and down if a shot is hit into any of these bunkers. Position "A" off of the tee is protected by a large waste bunker along the left side of the fairway that begins at the landing area and extends up to the left side of the green complex.

Accuracy is more important than distance on this dogleg right hole. A large waste bunker that begins at the back tee and runs along the entire right side wrapping around a lake and the green complex will wreak havoc to any golfer. Three bunkers are located below the right side of the fairway. A small green, sloped back to front is an island in the sand. In order to minimize the distance of second shot and increase the chances of staying on the green, golfers will need to favor the right side of the fairway and hit it long.

The longest par 4 at 497 yards will play shorter if the wind is at your back. The tee shot plays uphill with three fairway bunkers intersecting the landing area. The long hitters will be rewarded if they carry this complex and hit the speed slot on the backside. A large bunker runs to the base of the bluff sets up the right side of the hole and extends to the landing with a small bunker right of the landing area. A tee shot that reaches the plateau will allow for a medium iron into the green.

A great golf hole will demand three good shots but depending upon the strength and direction of the wind may be reached in two shots. A group of three bunkers varying in size on the left protect the left side of the fairway where the golfer can cut off some of the distance of this golf hole. The safe player will aim at the fairway bunker on the right, just make sure to use enough club or the player will end up in a collection area short right of the landing area making for a difficult second shot. Two bunkers on the right side of the approach and a large waste bunker on the left will make the player think twice on whether to go for the green in two or lay back and place their second shot for a short pitch into the green.

The course`s "Signature Hole; destined to be one of the most photographed holes in golf this 250-yard par 3 is truly spectacular. There are no hidden agendas, with a carry over the ocean, gauging the wind and picking the right club is half the battle. The player with any indecision should select an extra club and play to the right of the green to a small chipping area. The large green surface is contoured to the ocean ever present along the entire side of the hole. A spine works off the support on the right and runs into the green separating the front and back portions and favors those players that just make the carry of the ocean in front. There are two grassy hollows located behind the green to catch the few shots that might run through.

The demanding par 4 with a narrow fairway at the landing area forces the player to favor the right side and the penalty for missing can be severe. Three fairway bunkers on the right will catch their fair share off miss-hit tee shots. A deep swale on the left extends to just short of the green and will make for difficult approach shots out of the rough. One deep bunker on the left protects the right to left green but do not be short because a slightly crowned approach could nick your shot into the swale on the left or right.

A slight dogleg right par 5 measuring 562 yards leaves one many options. The large sinkhole on the right sets up the lake that begins short of the landing area and fronts the green complex. The large waste bunker to the left side of the landing area frames the tee shot. Some will try to go for the flag in two while others will set up comfortable third shot into the green although not necessarily an easy task. The fun begins about 50 yards out with two bunkers in the fairway that set up an elevated green. With water on the right and two bunkers left, the green is well protected placing a premium on the chip shot.

Water, sand and cross winds will make this a challenge for all players. The best shot here is to draw the ball into the wind. Those playing a fade may find the elaborate bunker complex to the right of the green wich will make it difficult to score. The single bunker in the fairway sets up a high and low approach. There is a large greenside bunker on and behind the left and behind the green that protects the heavily contoured putting surface.

A relatively short par 4 into the wind allows the player to bit off as much as they can chew. The back tees are set along the edge of the Caribbean requiring the player to hit over a bay and up the coastline to the green! The more ocean bitten off, the shorter and better the angle of the second shot will be to the green. The small, elevated green is surrounded by water on the right and backsides with a small bunker left protecting the front portion of the green. The green is pitched out the front, left side and back making for some interesting pin placements.

This long par 4 with the wind in your face puts a premium on a well-struck tee shot. The tee complex is parallel to the ocean with a large sandy waste bunker on the right separating the Atlantic from golf. Two bunkers on the left and the waste bunker on the right set up a generous landing area from which the left side is preferred for the best angle into the green. The second shot will require a long to mid iron depending on skill to reach the elevated green located on a peninsula partially surrounded by water. A small approach bunker on the left and greenside bunker on the right protects the green. Any shot that lands on the front or middle of the green will be safe.
